María Dueñas, Yannick et Saint-Saëns

Acclaimed during her appearance with the Orchestre Métropolitain in 2023, María Dueñas returns with an iconic work from the repertoire: Saint-Saëns’s Violin Concerto No. 3. A masterpiece of elegance and lyricism, the score reveals the composer’s classical clarity and gift for crafting memorable melodies. Under the soloist’s bow, these crystalline lines become a space where virtuosity turns into poetry. Yannick Nézet-Séguin’s connection to Sibelius is well established. After completing the symphony cycle with the Orchestre Métropolitain last season, he returns to its beginnings with the passionate and contrasting Symphony No. 1. Opening the concert, Lili Boulanger’s D’un soir triste reflects the profound sensitivity and delicate writing of a composer who died too young.
