About GatinApp
Our mission
GatinApp is a Gatineau app made by Gatineau people to help people in Gatineau do things in Gatineau with other Gatineau people. All of that also applies to non-Gatineau people, if they happen to be in Gatineau.
Our goal is simple: to help people in Gatineau find out what’s happening around them without having to check 7 Facebook groups (beurk!), the 38 City of Gatineau official websites and sub-sites and the backside of an STO bus.
Also note that part of our mission is to not take ourselves too seriously. We give ourselves the permission to be a bit "niaiseux"! If you don't like it, kindly print your complaints and place them in the nearest blue bin.
Our values
Local
You may have already noticed: GatinApp is like Gatineau App and not my-city-app-controlled-by-silicon-valley-billionaires-pretending-to-be-local-app. We are local and our mission is to put local first. Not just things that happen to be in Gatineau at some point in time - but things that are rooted in Gatineau.
Free skating at the Slush Puppy Centre? “Yes sir!”; Escape room at the Symmes Inn Museum in Aylmer? “Now you’re talking, ma’am!”; not-from-Gatineau magician passing through the Casino de Hull? “Yeah... okay, but you’re paying full price if you want promo”; Google Ads? “No thanks.”, Pretend-not-at-all-fraud-ad-but-actually-super-fraud-ad-from-strange-country, “Definitely not!”

We’re a small business, we want to help small businesses, it’s as simple as that.

Transparency
We’re going to be transparent. If we decide to blow all the profits at the casino instead of reinvesting them locally, we’ll tell you.
First act of transparency, here it is: our logo was generated by AI. I know, not ideal for a local app. We’ve been working for free for six months on this project, we’ve already sunk tons of money and time in it so we took the easy road on the logo front. You are fully within your rights to throw rocks at us (metaphorical rocks only, please). So, first promise: if we make money with this thing, the first few bucks we make will be spent on hiring a local artist to redo the logo.
Open source
Okay, this is a bit different, but we are very much a tech projects and open source is awesome so we'll prioritize, support and contribute to open source.
