L’imaginaire symphonique de Richard Strauss - programme 1

This program delves into Richard Strauss’s heroic world, where romantic fervour meets profound introspection. Death and Transfiguration opens the evening as a sweeping meditation, depicting the struggle of a soul aspiring to the light. Don Juan then ignites the orchestra with irresistible energy, offering a fiery portrait of a hero consumed by the pursuit of the absolute. Finally, Don Quixote reveals Strauss’s tender and disarming side: under Alisa Weilerstein’s bow and Rafael Payare’s direction, the idealistic knight comes to life with nobility and humanity. Another version of this concert is also offered, featuring a partly different repertoire.
