PEI Symphony Orchestra Presents: Edge

With the season closer on April 11, Edge asks us to look beyond and strive for better. The concert opens with Mozart’s Overture from The Magic Flute, exploring humanity’s never-ending mission to understand the beyond. Bondarsphere traces the extraordinary life of Canadian astronaut Dr. Roberta Bondar in an original work by Montreal composer Nicole Lizée. Combining soundtrack, video and live orchestra, it invites audiences to reflect on Bondar’s trailblazing accomplishments and inspires a new generation to embrace discovery, experimentation and awe in the face of the infinite. O Virtus Sapeintiae reimagines the 900-year-old music of Hildegard von Bingen, framing the concert around endeavour and contemplation. Kevin Lau explores The Infinite Reaches through sound, while Richard Strauss’ towering Death and Transfiguration ends the season with transformation—not to sadness, but to the next chapter of our story.
