PLATEAU DOUBLE : FUTUR DANSE GABRIELA JOVIAN-MAZON et MATHIEU HÉRARD

FUTUR DANSE brings together two emerging choreographic voices who use humour to explore identity, self-representation and the freedom of the body. In Find Your Light, Gabriela “Ellégance” Jovian-Mazon draws inspiration from Punking, a dance originating in Los Angeles queer communities, to explore identity, visibility and self-affirmation. Blending retro glamour, theatricality, humour and improvisation, the performers embody a gallery of characters who celebrate individuality and invite everyone to reveal their own light. With Mon horoscope me trouve laide, Mathieu Hérard presents a hybrid work combining dance, theatre and lip-sync. Through a series of scenes infused with humour, parody and sensitivity, a duo of performers explores the masks we wear and the roles we play to attract others, protect ourselves or exist. Combining popular culture references, absurdity and vulnerability, the piece examines our relationship with image and identity. A brief introduction precedes the performance, and an optional moderated discussion follows.
