Andrew Turner’s 18 P_R_A_C_T_I_C_E_S blurs the boundaries between dance, performance and live art. Combining humour, absurdity and reflection, the show invites audiences to follow the performer in his search for passion, meaning and creative momentum. The project centres on eighteen varied practices, ranging from dance to speaking and singing backwards and spinning a lightsaber. Inspired by Emily Wilson’s 2017 translation of Homer’s Odyssey, the piece offers a danced response to the poem rather than an adaptation. Through the metaphor of the palimpsest, it explores the layered traces of stories and behaviours beneath an apparently stable sense of self. A brief introduction precedes the performance, and an optional moderated discussion follows.
