Hey Viola!

Created by Krystle Dos Santos and Tracey Power, Hey Viola! is a musical exploration of the life of Canadian civil rights trailblazer Viola Desmond. Singer and actor Krystle Dos Santos, accompanied by musicians Chris Davis, Steven Charles and Mary Ancheta, brings her story to the stage through the dynamic, inspirational music that filled her home. Best known for refusing to leave the whites-only section of Nova Scotia’s Roseland cinema in 1946, Desmond was also a successful Black businesswoman, feminist and beauty product icon. The show explores the courage that inspired her to stand up to systemic racial injustice in Canada.
