Created and produced by Théâtre de l’Œil Ouvert, L’effet Lisa is a musical theatre production inspired by the work of Richard Desjardins. On the outskirts of Company Town, somewhere in western Quebec, a forest fire is raging. Where did the ember that sparked the blaze come from? This question haunts the larger-than-life characters whose lives intersect as the planet sends burning signals of the urgent need to act. The production brings characters from Desjardins’s world to the stage, including the Bum, the Good Guy, the Cleaning Lady, Jenny and Lisa. Adapted and assembled by Jade Bruneau, the script weaves songs, excerpts and references to the poet’s work together with original writing by Philippe Robert. Marc-André Perron on piano and Stéphane Tétreault on cello accompany this meeting of poetry, music and social engagement.
