Since the release of its debut album This Is How I Let You Down (2014), The Franklin Electric has stood out by turning experiences into anthems. With more than 450 shows under its belt, the Montreal collective led by Jon Matte has toured the globe alongside artists such as Mumford & Sons, Ben Howard, Half Moon Run and City and Colour, and later as a headliner. Its second album, Blue Ceilings (2017), earned a Juno nomination for Breakthrough Group of the Year. The Franklin Electric followed with the EPs In Your Head (2019) and In Your Heart (2020), with the latter’s title track reaching more than four million online streams. Next came the EP Never Look Back (2020), nominated at the ADISQ Gala for Album of the Year – Reinterpretation, and the album This Time I See It (2021). In 2022, the songs Borderline, Answers, Rabbit Hole, Lesser of the Worst and A Token of Your Purpose helped the collective triple its monthly listeners on streaming platforms. They set the stage for Oh Brother (2023), a vulnerable chapter in which Jon Matte opens up like never before. Nominated for Anglophone Show of the Year at the 2024 ADISQ Gala, he released the EP Victory Songs Vol.1 that same year, his most personal work to date.
