ON / OFF

ON / OFF is a choreographic work featuring five dancers on an unexpected apparatus: a treadmill. Within this confined space, movement is at once restricted, fiery and acrobatic. Individually and as a group, the performers explore pushing their limits, identity, living together, freedom and breathlessness. This environment becomes a meeting place for characters seeking to understand their place in the world. They play with time and suspend the action to examine the details of a gesture or a question. Sometimes at the mercy of the machine and sometimes in control, they turn its belt into a metaphor for the passage from childhood to adulthood, the paths we travel and the life we must learn to navigate.
