Electro-Brazilian rhythms, infectious energy and the pleasure of movement: this double bill by Balé da Cidade de São Paulo celebrates explosive, visceral and boldly collective dance.
With more than 200 creations to its credit, the company is one of Brazil’s leading dance ensembles. Fôlego and BOCA ABISSAL bring choreographer Rafaela Sahyoun’s finely crafted movement and the vitality of Brazil’s contemporary scene to life.
In Fôlego (breath), pulsation is a driving force: bodies undulate in a continuous flow, multiplied by an immense mirror that transforms the space into a shimmering kaleidoscope. Breathing becomes an impulse for connection, resonance and transformation.
In contrast, BOCA ABISSAL draws the group into sweeping circular movements, releasing regenerative energy in the face of exhaustion. The 18 performers trace a glittering journey to an electronic score with Brazilian accents, expressing the passionate joy of dancing together.
