Place des Arts | Christos Papadopoulos | Danse Danse

Ceaseless pulses, synchronized energies. Both dynamic and meditative, My Fierce Ignorant Step creates an ecstatic soundscape filled with the contagious joy of being alive. Exploring unison and group cohesion, Greek choreographer Christos Papadopoulos electrifies audiences with works in which bodies move like a single organism, vibrating with intensity. At the forefront of the European scene, he captivates with the precision of his ensemble pieces. My Fierce Ignorant Step draws its initial momentum from the sounds of his childhood in Greece. How can we recapture that youthful feeling of invincibility? Bodies pulse with fearless joy, to the rhythm of collective memories of a time when everything seemed possible. Despite the relentless group dynamic, individual qualities emerge. Echoing sounds, voices and bodies harmonize like instruments. Gradually, the dance and the musical score by Kornilios Selamsis build in intensity, carried by the performers’ breath and vocal impulses, culminating in collective euphoria. Exhilarating!
