Acclaimed around the world, Danza Contemporánea de Cuba brings the rhythms of contemporary Cuban dance to the stage with the infectious energy of some twenty performers.
Since its founding in 1959, the company has developed a distinctive style blending mambo, Afro-Caribbean traditions, classical ballet and contemporary influences. For its first visit to Quebec, it presents Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Reversible and George Céspedes’s Katharsis Morphé. These two works highlight their island’s identity, creative vitality and social climate in a choreographic and musical journey full of contrasts and sensuality, where myths of the past illuminate the present.
