In this powerful reimagining by Québécoise playwright Carole Fréchette, Antigone’s often-overlooked sister Ismene finally takes centre stage. Invited to tell her version of the ancient story, she revisits the bond between two sisters: one choosing uncompromising defiance and death, the other reconciliation and the preservation of life. Her initially measured, assured monologue gradually becomes a confession and a reckoning with an existence shaped by hesitation, fear, and a profound love of life. Translated into English by Linda Gaboriau, directed by Alisa Palmer, and performed by Amelia Sargisson, this solo performance explores law, justice, and the search for peace in an imperfect world.
