Reminder

A sharp, irreverent and gleefully anachronistic comedy by Frances Koncan that remixes Indigenous and Canadian history. Set in the Northwest Territory in the lead-up to the Red River Resistance, the play follows three women with very different worldviews as they navigate a precarious moment in history—and a contagious bout of boy-craziness. Marie-Angélique, a Métis romantic, sends flirtatious letters to Louis Riel; Eugenia, an Anishinaabe trader, brings news of rebellion and replies to the letters back to the fort; and Cecilia, a pregnant British settler, awaits her husband’s return while pining for Thomas Scott, Riel’s enemy—and the man secretly answering Marie-Angélique’s letters. Presented by Centaur Theatre in partnership with Productions Menuentakuan, this Montreal premiere is directed by Charles Bender.
