Ridge

The Fugitives present Ridge, a visceral music and storytelling show centred on the Battle of Vimy Ridge that probes difficult yet necessary questions about how and why we grieve. Brendan McLeod and the band examine misconceptions and varying perspectives around the battle while drawing parallels to other formative events in Canada’s past. The storytelling is accompanied by songs from The Fugitives’ JUNO-nominated fifth album, Trench Songs. Drawing on writing by First World War soldiers, the band composed new melodies that emphasize the emotional content of the lyrics. Both a vivid journey through history and an intimate examination of our connection to the past, Ridge passionately argues against the exploitation of young lives.
