Shaina Hayes is a Canadian singer-songwriter whose music blends the clarity of folk-pop with the warmth of alt-country, marked by a deep attention to emotional detail. Known for her graceful voice, thoughtful lyrics and quietly magnetic presence, she is establishing herself as a distinctive figure in the contemporary indie folk scene. Hayes released her debut album, to coax a waltz, in 2022, followed by Kindergarten Heart in 2024. Both releases showcase her intimate songwriting style and have earned her a growing audience, leading her to tour and open for artists such as The War on Drugs, The Barr Brothers and Elisapie. Alongside her music career, Hayes continues to run a vegetable farm in the small rural village of Shigawake, in the Gaspé region, where she grew up. The land remains a grounding force in her life, shaping her sense of rhythm, patience and presence. This dual life as a musician and farmer is reflected in the clarity and steadiness that infuse her songs.
