Axé WorldFest is proud to partner with the National Arts Centre in celebrating Latin American Heritage Month with the return of the acclaimed Brazilian ensemble Passarim, featuring singer-songwriter Tika for her Canadian debut. Following a sold-out performance at the National Arts Centre's Azrieli Studio in 2024, Passarim returns to Ottawa as part of Latin Heritage Month 2026, this time welcoming Tika, one of the group's founders and original lead vocalist—for her first-ever performance in Ottawa As the world approaches the 100th anniversary of Antônio Carlos Jobim's birth, Passarim presents a renewed concert celebrating the legendary composer's profound connection to Brazil's birds, rivers, forests, and the stories and traditions that have shaped the country's cultural identity. Founded in São Paulo in 2017, Passarim reimagines Jobim's timeless repertoire through the lens of a new generation, transforming the lush orchestral textures of his landmark 1987 album Passarim into an innovative contemporary soundscape. Combining expressive vocals, electric guitars, synthesizers, atmospheric arrangements, and subtle psychedelic influences, the ensemble offers a fresh and immersive interpretation of one of Brazil's greatest musical legacies. Now approaching its tenth anniversary, Passarim has performed at major theatres and festivals across Brazil and internationally. Their long-awaited return to Ottawa—together with Tika's debut—promises an unforgettable evening celebrating the beauty, poetry, and imagination of Brazilian music.
