Richard Strauss : une vie en musique

From Beethoven’s ideals to Strauss’s orchestral revelations, this program explores legend, individuality and creative freedom. Rafael Payare leads Ein Heldenleben, an extraordinary musical self-portrait in which Richard Strauss casts himself as a modern hero. Surrounded by enemies, allies, loves and triumphs, Strauss paints his world in broad strokes, with an incandescent orchestra, brilliant brass and richly varied colours that extend Beethoven’s cherished theme of heroism. Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto offers a poetic vision that defies convention to invent its own future. Jaeden Izik-Dzurko, the young Canadian prodigy and winner of the 2022 OSM Competition and the 2024 CMIM, brings radiant clarity to this bold work.
