Soulèvement

In Soulèvement, choreographer Danièle Desnoyers brings together eight women in a dance that is both primal and complex, making the body a place of intense freedom. Each performer asserts her identity within an organic ensemble where everyone has a place. The work explores the relationship between dancing bodies and music, creating a dialogue between excerpts from Richard Wagner’s orchestral repertoire and electroacoustic soundscapes by Ben Shemie, frontman of Suuns. A discussion with the artists follows the performance.
