PEI Symphony Orchestra Presents: Belonging

The PEI Symphony Orchestra opens its season with Belonging, a concert exploring what it means to truly belong to a community. PEISO principal flautist Morgan Saulnier will perform Aram Khachaturian’s Flute Concerto. During Eric Whitacre’s Deep Field, inspired by the 1995 Hubble image that evokes the scale of the universe, audience members’ smartphones will become instruments. The program also features A Leap of the Heart by Cecilia Livingston, originally written for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra for Canada’s sesquicentennial, and We’re Not Done Drumming by Laura Sgroi and Rebecca Thomas, bringing beat poetry and orchestra together to tell of the tragedy of colonization and the hope of reconciliation.
