Club Sandwich Mayonnaise

On October 5, 2021, Manuelle Légaré arranges the death of her father, Pierre Légaré, who had chosen medical assistance in dying. Armed with a hard drive of audio archives and her research skills, she launches an investigation: how did Quebec become the world leader in euthanasia? Ten years after legalization, has the practice moved away from its original purpose? On stage, past and present intertwine. Manuelle’s past and present selves meet to ask questions that have remained unspoken. Blending humour, tenderness and existential unease, Club sandwich mayonnaise turns grief into a space for collective reflection on our certainties, taboos and discomfort surrounding planned death, and on what it means to “die with dignity.” Editor-in-chief of Tout le monde en parle and an experienced producer, Manuelle Légaré takes the stage for the first time in this Porte Parole production. Written by Manuelle Légaré, the play is directed by François Bernier, who also collaborated on the text. The cast features Sylvie De Morais-Nogueira, Manuelle Légaré, Alice Pascual and Martin-David Peters.
