Africa’s golden voice, Salif Keita, returns to Montréal with a new album and ten musicians. A pioneer of contemporary African music, he blends Manding heritage with jazz, funk, rhythm and blues, and world music.
For more than fifty years, the Malian artist has performed on stages around the world with a socially engaged voice and an instantly recognizable, powerful and luminous tone. His landmark albums Soro, Amen, Moffou and La Différence have shaped modern world music, while songs such as Yamore, Madan and Africa continue to resonate across generations and continents.
An advocate for the rights of people with albinism and founder of the Salif Keita Global Foundation, he sees singing as a way to pass on knowledge, heal and bring people together.
