Long associated with social and political instability, Colombia still bears the scars of a troubled past. Yet behind this tarnished reputation, another country is emerging—one that is rebuilding and wants to tell a different story. Inspired by meaningful exchanges with members of Quebec’s Colombian community, filmmaker Julie Corbeil turns her camera toward their country of birth. What is happening in Colombia today? How is a nation marked by decades of violence redefining its identity and its relationship with the world? From Bogotá to the coffee-growing region, through the Andes and Medellín’s creative neighbourhoods, meet artists, entrepreneurs, coffee and cacao growers, engaged young people and citizens who have chosen to help bring about change. Some lived through the darkest years. Others embody a generation transforming the collective narrative. Through these many voices, a vibrant, colourful and festive Colombia emerges, proud of its cultural heritage. This beautiful country draws on its exceptional natural heritage, abundant resources and creative strength to redefine itself. This film invites audiences to look beyond stereotypes and rediscover a nation in motion. An uplifting journey celebrating the identity and energy of a resilient people.
