Born in Niger, Boubé grew up in Iferouane, a village on the edge of the Ténéré Desert known for its Tuareg music festival. A self-taught singer and multi-instrumentalist, he plays several instruments emblematic of “desert blues,” the powerful, hypnotic style associated with the Berber nomads of the central Sahara. Performing on stage since the age of 13, this guitarist, drummer and singer-songwriter creates music that ranges from meditative sounds to rock energy. His debut album, “Issaktan,” released in 2023, celebrates peace, friendship and the spirit of travel. His charisma, virtuosity and fiery guitar playing have earned him the nickname “the Jimi Hendrix of the Sahara.” In 2025, Boubé continued his musical journey with “Voyager,” released on Les disques Nuits d’Afrique and produced by Vincent Duhaime Perreault. He also appears alongside his musical masters on Putumayo’s “Desert Blues” compilation.
