Lecture-recital featuring Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber’s five sonatas evoking the Joyful Mysteries. This concert launches a three-concert project devoted to the complete Rosary Sonatas, also known as the Mystery Sonatas. These representative sonatas, conceived outside a religious setting, depict moments from Christ’s life and invite meditation. To highlight the work’s contemporary relevance, fifteen short vocal compositions will be created during the project, while visual artist Jean-François Provost will present a triptych depicting the Mysteries from a contemporary perspective. A pre-concert talk will be presented by Johanne Couture.
