Plasma State - Gabriel Fortin and Mariane Tremblay

The exhibition will be presented from June 3 to August 16, 2026.

Plasma State refers to a mysterious and omnipresent state of matter in the universe: plasma, which affects the propagation of radio waves in Earth’s ionosphere. The exhibition is inspired by the mysteries of a secret American mission from the 1980s in Sainte-Hedwidge-de-Roberval, which is said to have pierced a presumed gaping hole in the ionosphere, sowing doubt and fear.

The artists, who investigated the electromagnetic spectrum of the small municipality in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, present an installation with retrofuturistic accents, combining visual, sculptural, and sound elements that are at once familiar, enigmatic, and retrofuturistic. Their project poetically links scientific imagination with an artistic experience of manipulating the invisible.
